My website addiction

I am not a really good website searcher because I don’t like to spend all my day online but there is a site that has absorbed me completely which is www.pinterest.com, it is a website where you can find a little about everything, it has topics about food, clothes, design, architecture, art, gardening, even technology and it works a little kike twitter or some of this websites because you research on a board and you pin the things you like about any topic you choose and you can follow other peoples boards to see their new updates, and also you can make all of your boards or even topics that you want.

I actually found it because of a friend, we were studding structure and in one of those eternal beaks between lunch and work she showed us the site because she had an amazing recipe that we could cook for desert, it was an amazing nutella cake that we just couldn’t resist. So after that I learned that this website is not just to look at new things, it also shows new recipes and how to make things on your own, like your own tip data base where you can strange everything you like and want to us.

I love this website for all the amazing ideas that gives and it is also a way to publish some people work and make it important just by pinning on it, and you can share different interest with a ton of people, that’s why I even uploaded the app for my iPhone so I could carry it everywhere jaja
here are some of the things i've pinned

art in architecture

To me a piece of art is not only a painting, as an architecture student I am always interested on new projects around the world but there are two that really affected me in my decision to study this career.

The first one I consider it a piece of art because it is a unique plastic work that is not seen anywhere else and by the time it was built it became so polemic about its esthetic and the new change it represented; it is “Casa Batló”, also called as “Casa de los huesos” from my favorite architect Antonio Gaudí . It is a pure element of expression of the modernism in Spain and it is based in the elements of nature, there is a pallet of colors in the facade that brings to life the building and it has become one of the most attractive points to see in Barcelona.

The other proyect I consider a piece of art is the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, it was made by Frank O.Ghery who is also a seeker of organic architecture, he always tries to combine nature and architecture which is one of the reasons I most like it. I think the first time I saw a pictue of it was when I was little, when my grandfather brought me a postcard from a trip he made to Spain to see his village which is near Bilbao and I was so amazed by its beauty that it instantly became my favorite architecture/ piece of art ever. I would love to achieve a goal like this two architects some day and leave a piece of me somewhere forever.

Dead Poets Society

This is a movie that represents a special moment for me, not only for its lesson but also for who showed it to me. It is a story about a teacher that gets to a new school to teach literature and poetry to a young group of men; the teacher in the story quotes an inspiring poem from Walt Whitman called “Oh captain, my captain” that sends them in the journey of self-knowledge and confronting the fears of their lives and what they want to do with it. There’s a typical scene when he tell all his class to sand on the table and scream to show there is nothing we have to fear but the fear of not doing what we want and love.

It is sort of a tragic comedy film where you can find romance, anger, joy and even catch a laugh; with a cast of very renowned actors like Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan Hawke.

I saw this movie several years ago when I was at school with all my classmates, I think it was the year 2005, and the reason why I remember it as an important movie in  my life is because I had a language teacher that one day got to school and showed us this film before he left to the country side because of health problems and he just wanted us to remember one  phrase for our lives, which is to “seize the day” and never regret about anything we do, so it is a memory that I will keep forever.
