My website addiction

I am not a really good website searcher because I don’t like to spend all my day online but there is a site that has absorbed me completely which is www.pinterest.com, it is a website where you can find a little about everything, it has topics about food, clothes, design, architecture, art, gardening, even technology and it works a little kike twitter or some of this websites because you research on a board and you pin the things you like about any topic you choose and you can follow other peoples boards to see their new updates, and also you can make all of your boards or even topics that you want.

I actually found it because of a friend, we were studding structure and in one of those eternal beaks between lunch and work she showed us the site because she had an amazing recipe that we could cook for desert, it was an amazing nutella cake that we just couldn’t resist. So after that I learned that this website is not just to look at new things, it also shows new recipes and how to make things on your own, like your own tip data base where you can strange everything you like and want to us.

I love this website for all the amazing ideas that gives and it is also a way to publish some people work and make it important just by pinning on it, and you can share different interest with a ton of people, that’s why I even uploaded the app for my iPhone so I could carry it everywhere jaja
here are some of the things i've pinned

art in architecture

To me a piece of art is not only a painting, as an architecture student I am always interested on new projects around the world but there are two that really affected me in my decision to study this career.

The first one I consider it a piece of art because it is a unique plastic work that is not seen anywhere else and by the time it was built it became so polemic about its esthetic and the new change it represented; it is “Casa Batló”, also called as “Casa de los huesos” from my favorite architect Antonio Gaudí . It is a pure element of expression of the modernism in Spain and it is based in the elements of nature, there is a pallet of colors in the facade that brings to life the building and it has become one of the most attractive points to see in Barcelona.

The other proyect I consider a piece of art is the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, it was made by Frank O.Ghery who is also a seeker of organic architecture, he always tries to combine nature and architecture which is one of the reasons I most like it. I think the first time I saw a pictue of it was when I was little, when my grandfather brought me a postcard from a trip he made to Spain to see his village which is near Bilbao and I was so amazed by its beauty that it instantly became my favorite architecture/ piece of art ever. I would love to achieve a goal like this two architects some day and leave a piece of me somewhere forever.

Dead Poets Society

This is a movie that represents a special moment for me, not only for its lesson but also for who showed it to me. It is a story about a teacher that gets to a new school to teach literature and poetry to a young group of men; the teacher in the story quotes an inspiring poem from Walt Whitman called “Oh captain, my captain” that sends them in the journey of self-knowledge and confronting the fears of their lives and what they want to do with it. There’s a typical scene when he tell all his class to sand on the table and scream to show there is nothing we have to fear but the fear of not doing what we want and love.

It is sort of a tragic comedy film where you can find romance, anger, joy and even catch a laugh; with a cast of very renowned actors like Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan Hawke.

I saw this movie several years ago when I was at school with all my classmates, I think it was the year 2005, and the reason why I remember it as an important movie in  my life is because I had a language teacher that one day got to school and showed us this film before he left to the country side because of health problems and he just wanted us to remember one  phrase for our lives, which is to “seize the day” and never regret about anything we do, so it is a memory that I will keep forever.

the bucket list

When you have to think about what do you want to do before you die it’s hard to leave some things out I mean there’s the ambition and sadness that you might not get to do everything; but if I would have to choose 10 things the first one would be to travel around the world because I have always been in love with the idea of travelling and all the experiences you get, all the people you can meet. The second one would be riding an elephant, I’ve always admired those animals and how challenging and exotic they are, I think it would feel like I am on top of the world. The third thing would be swimming with dolphins because they are my favorite animals, and it’s been a dream since I was a child. The fourth one would be to fly a helicopter just for the feeling of feeling free. The fifth one would be sky diving, I’ve actually always been interested in extreme sports, I mean all the adrenalin at that moment and you are just diving into the unknown. The sixth thing would be to make a landmark in the world so people will remember me because of my profession and the passion that I put into it. The seventh thing would be to learn five languages because I’ve always been good at learning and speaking them, it’s been one of the dreams that I had since I was a child. The eighth thing is to create a clothing line, fashion has been a huge passion for me and I feel it also has to be a part of my life. The ninth thing is to open my own restaurant with my mom, so that way I can share more with her at something we both love. And finally the last thing and probably the most important are to create a family that loves as much as mine so I can share the rest of my days with them.
We don’t have a lot of time to enjoy and accomplish everything but I hope I can get to do at least half of the things I wrote, at least the most important to accomplish myself the best.

Concert memories

I haven’t got the chance to see many bands on live stage but I have been to 2 big concerts in my life, the first one was when I was about fifteen years old and it was very surprising because I was studding chemistry that day at a friend house in San Carlos de Apoquindo which was conveniently close to the San Carlos stadium where the concert was going to be the next day, and we finally decided jus to go there and try to sneak in to se the band, unfortunately for us we did not have any luck but it all happened so fast and we instantly found each other at the concert the next day as a gift from our parents. The concert was actually a music festival and the group we most wanted to see was Black Eyed Peas, but we had to wait for a really long time burning ourselves under the sun but it was worth waiting.

The other concert I went to was McFly which is a British group that I was very into a few years ago, it was at the Movistar Arena and it was very special because I waited for so long for them to get here and it was a very rewarding experience that I will always treasure.

As much as I haven’t got the chance to see many bands live I believe I’m vey lucky because I’ve had the chance to cheer to groups for a few years here, both groups are from friends and I go to see them and support them every time, the name of the bands are “Ellis Van Creveld”and “Spectral” and they play some covers and have a few songs of their own but they are a great group and they already had some success as they participated at the Pepsi music festival and got to finals; that was one of my favorite moments at a concert because I got to cheer a band I like and also be so happy for all my friends and how much that meant to them then.

A night out to dinner

I’m a huge fanatic of food and restaurants so I love trying new places and different types of food. If I had to pick my favorite one it would be one that’s on Parque Arauco’s boulevard, I don’t remember the name because I haven’t been there in several years but it’s a Japanese restaurant with a twist, the idea is that you sit at a big table and you have a private chef that cooks for you, and also make a show out of it, he makes tricks with the knifes and lift the food in the air; that’s actually one of the main reasons I love it and want to come back because it’s a place that has it all, good food, entertainment and a gorgeous decor.

There is another place I love but outside of Chile, in Mendoza a place called “El patio de Jesus Maria”, it is a beautiful concrete restaurant that is completely illuminated with different colors at night and specialize on meat, but I swear I don’t like meat and this place made me fall in love with it, it really is the best place you could ever eat meat so I highly recommend it.

I also have recently become a Turkish food lover as I went last week with some friends to a place in “Barrio República”, I don’t remember the name but I do remember what I ate jajaja, they have durum’s kebabs and falafels that literally melt your mouth, the durum is a wrap more like a gigantic burrito that has a lot of vegetables and meat that was cooked in a stick seasoned with a mixture of mayonnaise and yogurt, the kebab is very similar with the same ingredients only that it is wrap in a type of sandwich, and the falafel is a very tasty ball of mashed fried vegetables that anyone would love. This was very new to me but now it became one of my favorite foods so if anyone gets the chance to try it I can assure you you’ll love it!!!

Miles away into the unknown

One place that I would love to go is Australia, it has always caught my eye since I was a child and my favorite animal was the Kangaroo. When the years passed I become more and more interested in it and I did some research about some specific places there, of course one of them was Sydney, but I investigated little more and there are some amazing places like Perth, a small city of surfers and some of the best beaches on earth, now it’s become very popular to serve on Filming locations, and show the best of the best about surfing. Another city would be Melbourne; it has now become a Mecca of the culinary world, with some of the top chef’s in the world like Stephanie Alexander, Bill Granger, etc. and some of the great shows that we can now enjoy like “Master Chef Australia”, “Junior Master Chef”, “Surfing the menu” and many others.
As you can see this place has become more and more interesting, and one of the best exotic places, with its unique architectural and natural icons, and a culture mixed with the traditions of the aborigines and settlers, as well as a connection point to different cultures in Asia.
It is certainly a place in my bucket list, maybe to go for all summer and work there, and learn to live as relaxed as them going every day at the beach and seize the moment and what a beautiful place has to offer me.

Holiday in the Caribbean

One of my favorite trips was one I made when I was ten years old; we planned a trip to the Dominican Republic. It was my second flight ever so I was really excited about it (besides I was skipping school for a few days so what could be better jaja). I travelled along with my family when we were still 4 in it; we had a very good surprise when we got to the airport as we found out we had been moved to first class so my sister and I were spoiled the entire trip and we even got to see the captain’s cabin, he talked to us about his work and family and we got to see the best view of the sky from the plane, that’s definitely a memory I will never forget.

As soon as we landed the heat of the island hit us on the face because we weren’t used to it. We stayed at the Bávaro Palace Resort which was one of the biggest in the island and had lots of things to do for kids; I actually won diplomas at several sports like water polo volleyball and many more. One night I even did sing on stage like Shakira. It was a magical place; the sand and the water were perfect and crystal.

I think one of the best things here for my sister and I was that we made friends from all over the world, we had friends from France, Poland, Uruguay, Argentina, España, USA, and so many more I can’t even remember, but we got to spend a perfect time as a family and it was an experience for life for me and one of the best stamps I could ever get on my passport.

I promise to upload a picture of it and the other one I still owe you, so I will fix the problem with my computer as soon as I can.

a picture to the past

A picture I love is one that my father took us on a summer trip to Frutillar. There are lots of things I love about this picture; the first would be all the colors and the flowers around the house we rented every time we went there. It was taken around the time I was ten years old and my two sisters, Camila and Antonia, were eight and the youngest one was only months, it’s really special because of that, as it was one of her first pictures and her first trip ever. I remember we travelled with my grandparents that time, as they always loved south of Chile. It brings so many memories to my mind because it is a place where I really got attached to, I remember the times we swam on the lake, hardly being able to walk because of all the rocks in the bottom and the water temperature, just trying to get to a little island that looked like an oasis to me then. I also remember there was a man who used to sell the best kuchen ever made, and my mom and I went there every single day to buy one for dinner dessert; but he also told us endless stories about his trips and when he first got to Chile, he could entertain us for hours.

I think I have hundreds of pictures about this place but I like this one the most because my sisters are in it and as a reminder of the beautiful days as a child, just enjoying the day and spending as much time with the people I love the most in one of the most beautiful places (to my opinion) Chile has to offer.

If i have to think about a memorable trip it would have to be one that i did last year around August with my family, when i had a dejavu of my childhood. we were travelling to Miami and as my little sister didn't know World Disney we also stayed in orlando. It was a very fun trip because we were not travelling alone, you see every holiday there is we make plans with my dad's best friends and their families and we always turn out being about 20 people travelling together and it gets very entertaining because we turn out to be a huge family.
Our first issue of this trip was the incredibly big van that we had to rent ( it would have cost us less trouble using a smaller one) to fit ourseleves and the luggage. miami is a very difficult place to drive with all thi higways and people driving so fast, as soon as we were getting to the apartment a Jersey shore cast member almost crash us with his lamborghini, we luckuly did not but the troubles with the van were just begining. We stood a few days in miami shopping like crazy and walking around Fort Lauderdale coast, with this incredible clear water and beautiful views, but with a heat that was melting us alive.
Then afer a long day travelling we got to Orlando and we stopped at a Friday's to get something to eat, with a great meal and an entertaining show we didn't realized something  that was happening outside; at the moment we tried to get on the van to check in at the hotel we finally realized that we had been stolen on our firs night there, it was fun for the little girls becouse they got to go on a US police car and the sheriff gave them candy but we just couldn't belive our luck, that's without saying all the tickets we got for getting lost in the highway and the time in Miami when we went to Golden beach in Aventura and when we were getting back to find our car we found out it had been towed.

But despite everything that happend we couldn't have a better time, there were so many new things that i didn't remember about the place, and all the amazing rollercoasters we got on to, it couldnt have been better. after a week we got back to Miami for a few more days and we got a wider perspective about Miami than the fist few ones, when we walked more than shopped, we met a cuban men who told us about his lifechange when he moved his family to the states and how gratefull he was for being able to give them a better life in such a gorgeous place. now we are planning to go again on a cruise on February or maybe to New yYork so i hope i have as much fun as i had in this trip.

About a song:

There is one song that i can't seem to get our of my head, "Every teardrop is a waterfall" of coldplay; and i love it because it talks about a certain vision of the world that is so wonderful, to forget the problems of every day and start to worry about the things that could make your life happier and colourful like it shows in the video. The video is another thing that i like becouse it captures the attention of the eye with all the colours and the movement and style of it, its a really good song to cheer up the spirit, i think i first heard it while i was driving home and i had to go search ir on youtube and download it right away, maybe many of you heard it already and who hasn't i highly recomend it.
I think the picture tells all....

Another song i like is  "Of monsters and men" of Little talks, so listen to it and tell me what you thik of it.

I'm actually into different styles of music and very open to new songs that sometimes i hear on the radio. There's one person that really got me into techno music, she is my best friend from higschool,  who stole my laptop for one birthday and filled it with all this music and so many artist that you can't even imagine ( i think i still haven't heard them all ). Maybe people start liking new songs because they are catchy but the one that you will always like are the ones who really touched a moment of your life, just like many songs or groups have defined an entire generation and are still getting to new ones.

an entrance to places

I'm a very outdoor person so i would like to show some places and intresting things that we can usually ignore or don't know about and we can all finally share and know a little bit more about the city and everythig in our daily life wether it is helpful or just beautiful to us and worthy to remember.this wuld be my first purpose on my blog, about the rest.... it would come with time...
